JAZZ MOZAIK (BELGIUM) Hidden behind “New Solution” is the swiss double bass player Andreas Metzler. Andreas studied in Amsterdam, where two of his musical groups found their initial formation: “Thelonious 4” and “New Solutions”. For his present CD “Bassolutions”, however, he left his fellow musicians at home and went out on his own “solo tour”. In the very sense of the words, “solo tour” refers to one musician and his instrument using the advances of modern techniques in order to create all kinds of different sound effects such as “loops” and others. Check out www.newsolutions-music.de to find out more about how Andreas realises that in detail. Georges Tonla Briquet Hinter New Solution verbirgt sich der Schweizer Kontrabassist Andreas Metzler. DE BASSIST ( Music Magazine in the Netherlands) 'New Solution is a solo project of the German bassist Andreas Metzler. With a loopstation Metzler handles his own accompanying parts, in which along with his voice, he uses his bass as a percussion instrument. Half the repertoire are compositions by Erik Satie complemented with pieces by Coltrane, Ortiz, McCartney (Blackbird) and an own piece. Metzler is not the super-virtuoso who tries impressing his audience with waterfalls of notes; he rather creates a comfortable and exciting atmosphere with his impressive improvisations (with and without his bow)... In short, a beautiful and incorruptible piece of work achieved by an outstanding bassist. |
